If you have been arrested on suspicion of committing an offence then the police have a number of options once they have completed the initial stage of the investigation. They can release you without charge, release you 'under investergation, bail you to return to the police station if the investergation is complete or if they believe they have the evidence, charge you.
The law changed to limit the amount of time the police could keep people on bail for (sometimes with restrictive conditions) but this time can be extended and can have a huge impact for the individual who has not even been charged with an offence.
If you have been arrested but feel your case is dragging on give us a ring and we can talk you through what might be done to help.
